Introduction

Chopu is a before-and-after space transformation tracker that allows you to capture, tag, rate, and compare photos of any space, organize your records in a custom masonry gallery, and view personalized transformation statistics. We understand that the photos and details you store in Chopu may contain personal, private information about your home, workspaces, and personal projects, so we have designed our privacy practices to prioritize your control and protection of your data.

This policy outlines how we collect, use, and protect information related to your use of the Chopu application.

Information We Collect

We only collect information that is necessary to deliver and improve the Chopu service, and we never collect data unrelated to core app functionality:

• User-Generated Content: All content you create within Chopu, including before-and-after photos captured via your device camera or imported from your photo album, custom room/area labels, color-coded tags, 1-5 star ratings, optional notes attached to your records, and custom sorting preferences for your masonry gallery.
• Device Permissions: We only request access to your device camera and photo library when you explicitly choose to capture or import photos for your transformation records. We will never access these components without your direct consent.
• Anonymous Usage Data: We collect non-identifiable, aggregated usage data to improve Chopu's performance, such as feature interaction rates (e.g. how often users use the draggable golden slider comparison or statistics dashboard), search query frequency, and crash reports. This data cannot be linked back to your individual identity or personal records.

How We Use Your Information

All data we collect is used exclusively to deliver and improve your Chopu experience:

• To provide core Chopu functionality: Store and organize your transformation records, enable draggable golden slider before-and-after comparisons, generate your personalized dashboard with total records, average rating, and area count metrics, power keyword search with debounced filtering, and render your masonry grid gallery sorted by your preferred criteria (date, rating, title).
• To improve our service: Use aggregated anonymous usage data to optimize existing features (such as refining search filtering accuracy or improving slider performance) and develop new features that align with user needs.
• To provide support: If you reach out to our team for assistance, we may use the information you provide to troubleshoot issues and respond to your requests. We will never access your personal photo records without your explicit written consent to resolve a specific support issue.

We will never use your personal photos, tags, or notes for advertising, marketing, or AI model training purposes without your explicit opt-in consent.

Data Storage & Security

• Local Storage by Default: All your personal user-generated content (photos, tags, ratings, notes) is stored locally on your device by default. We do not upload or store this content on our external servers unless you explicitly opt in to optional cloud backup functionality (if available).
• Security Measures: We implement industry-standard encryption protocols to protect your locally stored data from unauthorized access, breach, or accidental disclosure.
• Full User Control: You retain full ownership of all content you create in Chopu. You may edit, export, or permanently delete all your records at any time directly within the app, with no residual copies retained on our systems.

Third-Party Services

• We do not sell, rent, or share your personal identifiable information or user-generated content with any third parties for advertising, marketing, or commercial purposes.
• If we integrate third-party service providers in the future (e.g. cloud storage providers for optional backup features), these providers will be bound by strict data protection agreements, and will only process your data in accordance with our instructions and this privacy policy.
• We do not implement third-party tracking tools that collect your personal browsing or usage data across other apps or services.

Your Rights

You have full control over all data associated with your use of Chopu:

• Access and Correction: You may access, edit, or update all your personal records, tags, ratings, and preferences directly within the Chopu app at any time.
• Data Deletion: You may permanently delete all your Chopu data from your device at any time via the app settings.
• Permission Control: You may enable or disable camera and photo library access permissions for Chopu at any time via your device system settings. Disabling these permissions will only prevent you from capturing or importing new photos, and will not impact your ability to access existing records stored on your device.
• Data Export: You may export all your Chopu records (including photos, tags, ratings, and notes) as a compressed file for personal backup at any time.

Children's Privacy

Chopu is not intended for use by individuals under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from individuals under 13. If you become aware that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take steps to delete such information promptly.

Policy Updates

We may update this privacy policy periodically to reflect changes to our practices or operational requirements. We will notify all users of any material changes via in-app notification at least 30 days before the updated policy takes effect. Your continued use of Chopu after the effective date of the updated policy constitutes your acceptance of the changes.
